The Times writes that the European Union may ban British citizens from entering its territory to prevent the spread of new strains of coronavirus.
It is noted that European countries will be able to get the right to impose such a ban at their own discretion, at least until the effectiveness of vaccines against the new COVID-19 strain is proven.
At the same time, the ban on entry may apply not only to passengers arriving from the UK, but also from other countries outside the EU, where new types of the virus have been identified. This is stated in the proposal put forward by Germany and approved by Chancellor Angela Merkel.
The publication recalls that in the UK there was a very complex epidobstanovka, largely due to the mutated B strain.1.1.7. Since the beginning of the pandemic, 3.5 million infected people have been identified in the kingdom, and more than 93,000 patients have died.
